Kelly Baker was born in Silver Spring, Maryland, but has lived and grown up in Phoenix, Arizona for the last 19 years. She is a recent graduate of Arizona State University, achieving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sustainability and a minor in Global Studies.

She has fostered a deep passion for socio-economic environmental justice and is interested in furthering the representation of the PGM (People of the Global Majority) and LGBTQIA+ communities in environmental fields. Furthering this, Kelly is a current RAY Diversity Fellow and a recent alumnus of the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program and the Environmental Leadership Program.

Her personal mission in life is to mobilize against systems of oppression that aim to silence minority communities through phenomena such as redlining and voter suppression. Kelly has worked in campaigns across the Colorado Plateau and the southwest United States to advocate for environmental protection, advocacy, and justice. She has also worked in environmental advocacy, environmental justice organizing, and equitable clean energy research.

Kelly currently holds the title of Regional Community Organizer at the Chisholm Legacy Project. She is extremely honored to have this opportunity and is excited to support frontline communities and their leaders as they transform society and ensure community sovereignty.

In her free time, she loves to write, connect with nature, and snuggle up with her cats. She also loves to participate in crafts, such as crocheting and pressing flowers, which has piqued her interest in herbal medicine and natural remedies.
