Take action to support Freedmen’s Settlements and historic Black towns
We urgently invite you to support a critical legislative package introduced in Congress to preserve Freedmen's Settlements and historic Black towns established after emancipation. The Revitalizing and Empowering Settlements Through Opportunity, Resilience, and Education (RESTORE) Act establishes the first federal program specifically supporting these historic communities with funding through 2030, and the accompanying resolution calls for immediate executive action to protect them.
