Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA)
Ethiopian Women Lawyers Association (EWLA) is a non-profit and non-partisan organisation with the overall objective of promoting the legal, economic, social, and political rights of Ethiopian women.
EWLA actively defend the rights of women by providing legal services to women suffering from gender-based violence and discrimination. At advocacy level EWLA’s achievements include having revision of gender-insensitive articles in the law and by having an entirely new law, such as the family law passed by the Ethiopian government.
EWLA’s mission is promoting women’s empowerment and access to justice, strengthening the capacity of duty bearers, and influencing policies, laws, and practices to realise women’s equal rights.
