TCLP is Meeting the Moment with a Concentrated Strategy

Building Local Sustainable Economies–Catalyzing a New Democracy

TCLP stands for bold Black leadership in advancing just transition, where frontline communities take the lead on shaping the solutions that center a solidarity economy, regenerative systems, and an inclusive democracy.

Today TCLP, alongside peer organizations in the movement, is operating in the most overtly systemically hostile circumstances we have seen in our lifetimes. Harsh headwinds will continue to test us. Still, we stand firm with our commitment to keep organizing and building lasting power.

We are guided by Shirley Chisholm’s reminder that “service is the rent we pay for living on this earth.” As we rise to this moment, we are structurally re-aligning to deepen our service, keenly focused on the 250+ communities, with whom we are in relationship.

We commit to ensuring that as communities face increased surveillance, the loss of the social safety net, withdrawal of critical infrastructure funding, and more, we will provide steady and strong support as communities continue on the path to self-determination, local self-reliance, and the collective building of a new, inclusive democracy.
