Elizabeth Mathis
Research and Policy Associate
Elizabeth Mathis is the Research and Policy Associate at the Chisholm Legacy Project. Elizabeth comes from a social equity nonprofit background and has dedicated her recent work to climate justice policy and organizing, specializing in disaster resilience and energy democracy. She strongly believes in enabling self-determination among frontline communities and increasing access to the legislative policy process. Elizabeth enjoys building authentic relationships and learning new ideas and strategies for dismantling systemic oppression. She is also heavily invested in voting rights, housing justice, and healthcare/disability justice.
Elizabeth grew up in Georgia just outside of Atlanta and earned a dual B.A. in History and Philosophy from the University of West Georgia. She has an M.A. in Theology from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. She is a mom to two large lapdogs and loves to spend as much time as possible outside with them, hiking or kayaking. She also loves to travel, read, eat, and talk about any and all things nerdy.
